I don't think you can exaggerate rape

Also, are feminists against murder jokes, e.g. “you got murdered in that game!” or “Man, that test was murder.” I’m pretty sure murder is worse than rape.

This is frighteningly offensive, ignorant, hurtful, and harmful.

Not only is the majority of rape unreported, I would propose that the majority is unrecognized.

Remember the math here assumed a 90% rate of non-reporting, which is generous considering that such a number can’t possibly be verified.

How many women are taught and believe that they deserve, should expect or accept the treatment they receive?

Calling people out on BS statistics is not even close to saying that anyone deserves to be raped. Absolutely no one deserves to be raped; that doesn’t give anyone the right to invent facts to support their worldview.

The lucky ones realize that what they’ve experienced is rape and get help. The lucky ones often aren’t even sure they’d like to keep living, so…no, I don’t think murder is worse.

If someone is murdered, their life is over. Period. If they are raped, they are still around to question whether life is worth living. Rape leaves a spark of hope of recovery, and some people can do it; exactly 0% of humans have recovered from murder.

I’ll admit that arguing which is worse requires the perspective of someone to make value judgements. Some people would rather be dead than raped, others not so. But then, the most you can say is that they are approximately equal. My point is this: if using the word “rape” in any non-serious, non-sympathetic, non-literal context is abominable, why can’t the same standards be applied to murder?

What I’M saying is that with rape trauma it takes YEARS for women or men to come to terms with the fact that they’ve even been raped—if they EVER come to terms with that fact. To call this an exaggerated statistic is ridiculous. Maybe trying to have a statistic is ridiculous. But I don’t think you could exaggerate rape if you tried. Centuries upon centuries of culture tell women that unwanted sex isn’t rape, it’s just, oh, you know. It happens cause men are like that. That is what makes rape impossible to track. No one wants to believe they’ve been raped.

Rape isn’t comparable to murder. It’s not quantifiable. And as a rape victim who has attempted suicide, I resent the fact that you’d even mention it all in such a flippant manner without any idea of the far-reaching effects that rape has in a person’s life. It takes so much more than hope to get past rape. My entire life, every relationship is scarred by one man’s actions. And I resent the man who tries to do the math on the exaggeration of how often college students are raped in a culture where rape already goes without enough proper treatment as it is.
